I believe, this quote says that sometimes we don't need to try to do as much work as we can, but stop a little and just enjoy the calmness, spend time doing something simple and unimportant. In this way we believe in tomorrow as we think that for some kind of work we have another day.
I really believe that new words need to be chewed, digested, and chewed again. For most students, they need to hear, speak or write a new word on SEVEN different occasions before they "own" the word and understand it completely. Reading a book like Hansel and Gretel will help students add new words to their growing list of words.
Thi,at first ,is very difficult to understand. However, the more one thinks about the saying, the more apparent is the meaning.
If you try to leave something for the new day, it means that you are sure that the next day will come. The optimism and believing in tomorrow is essential during the hard times. Simona
I agree with the statement that wasting shows that you believe in tomorrow. It is said that everybody should live for this day, because you can never know when you will die. If you save everything for the next day or just do everything that helps you to live better tomorrow, you can never enjoy your present time.Ill people always say before death that they should have enjoyed their lifetime better, because they have no more time to do that any more.To conclude, people should think more about what makes them feel happy and , of course, do those things, before they have no chances anymore.Justina
I think, that this quote "Some words need to be chewed before digested" is very useful and cleaver. Everyone must think what are they doing or saying, because after action can be very sad consequence. Also, we should think more about our behaviour. Monika

Some people don't pay attention on what are they saying. Nobody knows how other person understands your words and mentions. We can offend people's personalities, soul whith our words.
Moreover, every your action even word can came back over and above to you. So never say things that most do not want to hear.
And there is a sayng : word The word isn't a sparrow, flew back would not return.

In such hard times optimism is one of the ways to survive in general, but to be honest - i think that people should not waste anything. I think that when it comes to surviving, you should not think about smart quotes, but try your best to suply those important thing, which you need to survive. I obviously agree with the statement. This means being always optimistic and, it's doesnt matter what happens, believing in tomorrow. In such hard situation as children in fairytale are, believing is the most important thing, that keeps them alive.
In my opinion, the phrase "Wasting a little shows you believe in tomorrow" means that you still have hope, you're not giving up. Yes, the children were in the woods, they had no one to trust, no home, even their parents had left them. What did they have? Just a little piece of bread and they decided to throw it away. If they had no hope, they would have saved it, but they were optimistic. If you can waste today, you believe that tomorrow you'll have some more. In this case (war, alone in the woods, no home, no food...) you had to keep your hopes up.
I think that I'll use this phrase in the future - it inspires me to have faith.

well i think that it is generally true.If you waste something, then it shows that you believe that later on you will get more. Also, when you spend something up even a little, you are giving yourself a minor luxury , that kind of sets your brain, that everything is not so bad, and probably tomorrow it will be even better. For example, when you get back from job after a very stressful day, a cup of hot tee, of hot chocolate will make you forget about your boss , who is going to hang you tomorrow . this is how, i think, this quote is all about.
In conclusion, the fact that you spend something indicates that you are optimistic about the future , also it helps you to set your mind , that "every little thing is gonna be alright".
I'm an optimistic person. I have a strong belief in tomorrow, hope that the next day will be even better than today. It's important not to desire to get, to experience everything now, during today, during this hour. In a nutshell, grab everything from life, but be smart, always leave to yourself and keep some free place or space for the future.

I totally agree with the quote: "Some words need to be chewed before digested". Some books have no deeper meaning or idea, they are only for catching your attention for a short time. They are wasting your time, actually. But other books, like "The true Story of Hansel and Gretel" has not only historical aspects, but leads you to thinking more about your most important things in your life. I really do enjoy reading it. Although it's a sad story, I am excited to read till the end. Kathrin

I think it is really good quote. It makes you to stop and to think how is your life going on. Do you live your day fully like it will be the last one or you are saving everything and don't believe that tomorrow you can get it or even better things.
The phrase "Wasting a little shows you believe in tomorrow" is very right. I agree with other comments, that it means that there is hope and you should not give up. I think, all the story is about hope, about how to cope with the problems and not give up easily. No one is absolutely sure about their future. One group of people are more optimistic than the others but even they are not sure about it. What makes them better than pessimists is that they believe in themselves and the future.
Tomorrow you could have the worst day of your life but also there's a possibility that you could have your best day too. We're never sure of it. That's why I say: waste as much as you want now without crossing the boundaries.
We never know what tomorrow brings.
Well, I think that if we waste just a little and leave something for tomorrow it means that we know that tomorrow will be and we should take this into account and for example like in this book leave some food .

"Wasting a little shows that you believe in tomorrow." I really like that one! The meaning of it is so true. People, who do not believe in better - or maybe worse, but still - tomorrow, just live like everyday can be the last day of their lifes. It is not right, I think. We should think about living longer and we should hope! There are bad days, all of us have to face many problems and difficulties. But this does not mean, that life is over.
BUT. People shouldn't forget words "a little" in the sentence "Wasting a little shows that you believe in tomorrow." :)
We have to enjoy every day of our lives and try to do as much as we can. Like it said "Wasting shows that you believe in tomorrow". We should help the ones who need some help for example give them some coins for bread or something else like that. This shows that you care about other people's future life and you are kind.
In my opinion quote with "believing in tommorow" means, that by leaving things undone, you plan to do it later. During war people didn't know if upcoming night wouldn't be the last in their lives. If they left bread for tommorow they would hope they will eat next morning.
The first one means that if you're wasting something, you believe in tomorrow. I think this quote is really clear.
But the second one could be interpretated widely. I think that it means that life goes on no matter what happened and you're going with it. So, you have to leave difficulties behind and live your life today!
I really liked the quote David wrote on our questions sheet "God packed up and left Poland in 1939 " I think this one is very meaningful and accurate.

I think that those words mean that we should live not tomorrow, but today,enjoy,appreciate,love this day, this moment.So if we waste a little now, we know that we will earn,get something tommorrow also as we got today.

It`s really interesting quotes. They are both could be rules of life for everybody of us.
The first is realy wonderful. Because you can`t explain it with word easily. The best way to understand it-put it in your mind and then chew, chew and chew. And maybe only then you can think about it right way round.
The second.. Life is changing around us, so we must change too. No, it`s not the right word. If you`ll always change, what will you have? Nothing! So, we must go straight and only straight. BUT we can`t forget about how we are. Stay yourself and go.

the quote which really stuck on my mind is this one- "God packed up and left the Poland in 1939". From the very begining of WW2 people had some believing that everything will be OK, but now, when the winter frozen the ground, the hope dissapeared... People think that God forgot about them. Of course the reallity and a number of deaths blogs your faith in God and you start hating Him.

shows you believe in tomorrow." means that you still have hope that things will change and your situation will get better. Hope is really powerful because it does not let you give up.
The wheel in the second quote resembles life. This quote means that life moves on and you cannot change anything.
An interesting quote I have found is: "When you are falling off a cliff, you can even grip a razor blade". In my opinion, it says that when you are in a desperate situation you can make impossible things happen.

I found quite an interesting quotation on page 65: "When you're falling off the cliff, you can even grip a razor blade". In fact, we have a very similar Polish saying: "A drowning man will grab at a razor blade".
In my opinion, it means that everything is relative - the notions of right and wrong, good and bad. When you're an extremely difficult situation, you'll do things you wouldn't do under other circumstances. Dramatic situations deprive you of your inhibitions.
It can be compared to this well-known biological experiment - you take three bowls, one filled with cold, one with hot and one with tepid water. You put one hand into hot water and one into cold water. You keep them inside for a few minutes and then you put both hands inside tepid water. This water seems to be hot for the hand which was originally in cold water, and cold for the one put out from hot water.

The quote, that impressed me was "This is hell. God couldn't invent anything worse. The Nazis have exceeded the imagination of God.". I think that World War II was one of the most cruel and tragic event in humanity. It was awful to live in that times, when people were killing each other and it wasn't matter if you were child or pregnant woman. Also people could not believe in God, they lost their faith and they couldn't imagine anything worse than this. So WW II was just like hell, for many people.

I absolutely agree with this two statements.It is really true to life.
Especially the first quote "Wasting a little shows you believe in tomorrow." In Russia we have a proverb with the same meaning -"Live Like You'll Die Tomorrow" .It's said that we should live for this day, because you don't know when you will die.May be it will be tomorrow.You should enjoy your life,enjoy little things that happens and don't worry.You should believe in tomorrow.You should have a hope.
Also I agree with second quote. Because life is going and we should move with it.

Life is really about moving on.If we will stop we will die.

It's WW2, many people were killed, but does that means that life stopped for the living ones? No. If we will try to stop life because of every disaster that happens, even for a moment we might not be able to get back to reality and stuck in one unpleasant moment. Silverijus
